High Wind Warning
Issued: 11:57 AM MST Nov. 17, 2017 – National Weather Service

... High Wind Warning in effect from 11 PM this evening to 5 am
MST Sunday...

The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a High Wind
Warning, which is in effect from 11 PM this evening to 5 am MST
Sunday.

* Timing... strong winds aloft behind a Pacific low pressure trough
may surface along the Cody foothills bringing a threat of high
winds around Clark. The threat of high winds will begin late
this evening and continue into early Sunday morning.

* Winds... west winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 65 mph, locally
higher around Clark.

* Impacts... strong cross winds will produce a significant blow
over threat to trucks pulling light weight and high profile
trailers.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

A potent winter storm continues to send a stream of Pacific moisture
into far western Wyoming. This snowy event is expected to persist
through this afternoon although more showery in nature. The
following are snow totals that have accumulated around the area thus
far.

Observations are collected from a variety of sources with varying
equipment and exposures. We thank all volunteer weather observers
for their dedication. Not all data listed are considered official.

Snotels (snow telemetry) are remote sensing sites in the mountain
watersheds. Snowfall data from snotels are estimated based on snow
water equivalent.
