San Juan County Severe Watches & Warnings NOAA Weather Radio

Watches & Warnings

Special Statement
Issued: 3:58 PM PDT Aug. 14, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Smoke from surrounding wildfires may result in poor air
quality this afternoon into Wednesday morning...

Although surface flow is transitioning to become more
onshore... the weak nature of this flow is having difficulty
dispelling the smoke already present over areas of western
Washington. Air quality sensors in many locations are indicating
unhealthy to unhealthy for sensitive groups air quality. With
little to no improvement expected tonight into Wednesday
morning... these conditions are expected to persist. Conditions may
start to improve Wednesday as an upper level trough begins to
approach the area... bringing a better chance for increased onshore
flow.

Children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory illnesses
are most at risk of serious health effects. These groups should limit
or avoid spending time outdoors.
