Wind Chill Advisory, Winter Storm Warning

Tuesday...

* what... snow is occurring across portions of southwest Arkansas
and northeast Texas. Locations still receiving rain should
experience a transition to snow during the next few hours. Plan
on difficult travel conditions, including during the morning
commute on Tuesday. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4
inches are expected. The combination of very cold air and strong
north winds will cause wind chill values to fall into the single
digits early Tuesday morning.

* Where... portions of south central Arkansas, southwest Arkansas,
   northwest Louisiana and northeast Texas.

* When... for the Winter Storm Warning, until 6 PM Tuesday. For the
Wind Chill Advisory, until noon Tuesday.

* Additional details... look for significant reductions in
visibility at times. The cold wind chills will cause frostbite
in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather
conditions are occurring. If you must travel, keep an extra
flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an
emergency. The latest Road conditions for the state you are
calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will
combine to create low wind chills. Frost bite and hypothermia can
occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.






Lake Wind Advisory

... Lake Wind Advisory in effect until 9 am CST Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a lake Wind
Advisory, which is in effect until 9 am CST Tuesday.

* Event... north winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph with gusts up
to 25 to 30 mph in the wake of a strong cold front during the
overnight and early morning hours.

* Timing... now until 9 am Tuesday when wind speeds are expected
to diminish.

* Impact... rough chop on area lakes will create hazardous boating
conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A lake Wind Advisory indicates that winds will cause rough chop
on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.
