Issued: 3:45 PM MDT Apr. 20, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Wind Advisory now in effect until 6 PM MDT this evening...

* location... east central and southeast plains, including the
south central mountains and adjacent Highlands.

* Winds... south to southeast 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45
mph, shifting southwest to west later this afternoon.

* Timing... winds will gradually decrease early this evening.

* Visibility... locally reduced in areas of blowing dust.

* Local impacts... strong cross winds will create difficult
travel on area roadways.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Motorists should exercise caution while travelling. Sudden gusts
of wind may cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Extra
attention should be given to cross winds.

Fire Weather Warning
Issued: 1:43 PM MDT Apr. 20, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Red flag warning remains in effect until 9 PM CDT /8 PM MDT/
this evening for windy and dry conditions, and very high to
extreme fire danger for all of southeast New Mexico and south
through the Davis Mountains and Marfa Plateau...

* wind... southwest 30 to 50 mph in the Guadalupe Mountains with
higher gusts. Southwest 20 to 30 in the plains with higher

* Humidity... 5 to 15 percent.

* Fire danger... very high to extreme.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong
winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures will increase
potential for fire growth.
