Areal Flood Warning, Flash Flood Warning
Issued: 12:32 PM EDT Sep. 18, 2018 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Boston/Norton has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
northern Worcester County in central Massachusetts...
Hampshire County in western Massachusetts...
northwestern Middlesex County in northeastern Massachusetts...
Franklin County in western Massachusetts...

* until 430 PM EDT.

* At 1230 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated that the torrential
rainfall that affected northwest and north central Massachusetts
had pushed southeast of the area. Light to moderate rain remained
and will linger early this afternoon.

* The rainfall from this morning produced urban flash flooding. With
the rainfall becoming lighter in nature, the urban flooding is not
expected to become worse, but could take a longer period of time
to recede.

* The heavy rains also caused some area rivers and streams to go
into minor flood or come close to bankfull levels. Streams and
small rivers will take some time to recede, and some rivers may
even rise a bit further during this afternoon. A river Flood
Warning continues this afternoon for the North Nashua River at
Fitchburg. The Deerfield river at West Deerfield went into minor
flood, and crested at 11 am. The Deerfield river is expected to
fall below flood stage during early this afternoon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. Do not
drive through roads or underpasses that are flooded. Avoid flooded
areas near small streams and move to higher ground immediately.
