Flash Flood Warning
Issued: 8:14 PM EDT Jul. 20, 2018 – National Weather Service

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 1145 PM EDT for
northern Laurel... northern Pulaski... Jackson and Rockcastle
counties...

At 810 PM EDT, Doppler radar and local rain gages have indicated
that over 2 inches of rainfall has occurred in places between 6:30
and 8 PM. Up to another inch of rainfall is expected between 8 and 9
PM. Excessive runoff will cause flash flooding of creeks and
streams, roads, and roadside culverts.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Mount Vernon, McKee, Science Hill, donaro, bummer, Robinet, Gum
Sulphur, shop branch, Bandy, Tyner, Privett and horse lick.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
