Watches & Warnings

Special Statement
Issued: 2:50 AM CST Dec. 13, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Fairly strong north-northwest winds today across north central
Kansas...

Through most of today, north-northwest winds will be fairly strong,
with sustained speeds averaging 25 to 35 mph, frequently gusting
35 to 40 mph, and perhaps a few isolated gusts to 45 mph,
especially south of the Highway 24 corridor. Wind speeds will
gradually diminish through late afternoon, with sustained speeds
by sunset easing under 20 mph, and further decreasing this
evening.

While winds should not be strong enough to warrant a formal
warning, they could be strong enough to cause travel difficulty
at times, especially for high profile vehicles on west-east roads,
such as highways 36 and 24. In addition, outdoor objects should
be secured so they are not blown around.
