Flood Warning

The Flood Warning continues for
The Bear river at border.
* At 11:30 am Sunday the stage was 8.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 8.6 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
tomorrow morning.
* Impact... at 8.6 feet... extensive flooding of lowlands and pasture
along the river will occur. Water around one foot deep will cover a
portion of Pegram Road just north of Pegram. Driveway access will
be cut off to some low lying homes next to the river near Dingle.




Areal Flood Advisory, Areal Flood Watch

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has extended the

* flood advisory for...
snowmelt in...
southeastern Bear Lake County in southeastern Idaho...

* until 245 PM MDT Monday

* emergency management and the public reported flooding in The Bear
lake area due to snowmelt and runoff. Widespread flooding across
fields and low lying areas continues near Pegram, Ovid, Saint
Charles and Fish Haven. Rising ground water has resulted in
numerous flooded basements across the advisory area, particularly
in Ovid and Paris. Water has flooded secondary roads in and around
Pegram, Geneva, and between Bloomington and Saint Charles.
Flooding has also surrounded at least one home near Dingle.
Additional lowland rainfall is expected tonight and Monday which
will likely exacerbate ongoing flooding conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams.
Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued a

* flood advisory for...
a dam floodgate release in...
south central Caribou County in southeastern Idaho...
western Franklin County in southeastern Idaho...

* until 115 PM MDT Monday

* emergency management personnel reported high inflows into the
Alexander Reservoir near Soda Springs due to snowmelt and runoff
which has necessitated dam releases. As a result, minor flooding
of low lying areas is expected along The Bear river downstream
from west of Niter to Thatcher, and from Riverdale south to the
Utah border. Additional flooding will remain possible over the
next several days as high flows from the upstream dams continue.
In addition, elevated flows due to snowmelt and runoff on the cub
river near Franklin and Whitney may result in minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams.
Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.

The Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of central Idaho, eastern Idaho, south central Idaho,
and southeast Idaho, including the following areas, in central
Idaho, big and little Wood River region, Lost
River/pahsimeroi, and Sawtooth Mountains. In eastern Idaho,
upper snake Highlands. In south central Idaho, eastern Magic
Valley. In southeast Idaho, Cache Valley/Idaho portion,
Caribou Highlands, south Central Highlands, and Wasatch
mountains/Idaho portion.

* Through Monday afternoon

* excessive snowmelt along with Lower Valley rainfall.

* Mild temperatures coupled with lower elevation rainfall will
enhance snowmelt across the region resulting in areas of low
land flooding. Water over roads and flooding near homes is
possible. Areas near creeks and streams may be especially
vulnerable to flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
