... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 8 PM this evening to
noon MDT Friday...

The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow, which is in effect
from 8 PM this evening to noon MDT Friday.

* Location... the lower slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains
including La Veta and Cuchara passes.

* Cause and timing... a developing storm system will rapidly
intensify on the eastern Colorado plains late tonight into
Friday morning.

* Snow accumulation... 4 to 8 inches

* wind... northerly 20 to 40 gusting to 50 mph.

* Impact... conditions will be hazardous due to periods of heavy,
blowing snow and poor visibilities. Slushy or snow covered roads
and poor visibilities will make travel difficult.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means that
visibilities will be limited due to a combination of falling and
blowing snow. Use caution when traveling, especially in open
areas.
