Flood Warning
Issued: 11:29 AM CST Feb. 25, 2018 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Ouachita River at Thatcher l&d.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 10:30 am Sunday the stage was 85.1 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 79.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 91.0 feet by
March 4th. Additional rain is forecast Tuesday night into
Wednesday so please monitor future forecasts for any updates.
* Impacts at 85.0 feet... there may be some County roads along the
river flooded, requiring lengthy detours. River is high and swift,
boaters should be very cautious. Access to many oil and gas rigs
will be by boat only. Levee gates should be closed.
* Impacts at 88.0 feet... river is high enough to stop drainage from
Calion Lake. Heavy rainfall in the area could cause the lake to
rise towards several homes along the shore. Downstream, water
rising into undeveloped areas of the State Park at Moro Bay.
Widespread flooding of Timber, with access to many oil and gas rigs
flooded.
* Impacts at 90.0 feet... access to Thatcher lock and dam may be
affected. Many oil and gas rigs in the river bottoms can be reached
by boat only. Runoff into Calion Lake cannot drain to the river.
Levee gates should be closed. Downstream, minor impacts to the Moro
Bay State Park, some shallow water may be over the Road to the
campground.
* Impacts at 92.0 feet... from Calion to Thatcher lock and dam, the
Road along the levee may be affected. Some roads in Moro Bay State
Park are flooded. Problems with Calion Lake drainage. Heavy rain in
the area could cause homes along the Lake Shore to be threatened by
rising lake levels.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Ouachita River at Camden.
* Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 9:25 am Sunday the stage was 39.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 41.5 feet by
Tuesday evening. Additional rain is forecast Tuesday night into
Wednesday so please monitor future forecasts for any updates.
* Impacts at 40.0 feet... major flooding begins at this level.
Widespread residential flooding is possible in the Camden vicinity
and downstream. Much of the low lying areas along the river in
Ouachita and Calhoun counties will be flooded. Access to many homes
will be by boat.
* Impacts at 42.5 feet... residential flooding is occurring in portions
of Ouachita and Calhoun counties, with numerous Road closures. This
stage occurred in December 1987, the highest stage since completion
of the flood control reservoirs.
