... Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 10 PM akdt Saturday...

* what... snow and blowing snow expected. Plan on difficult travel
conditions. Snow accumulations of 4 to 10 inches through
Saturday.

* Where... St Lawrence Island and Bering Strait coast.

* When... snow is currently falling along the Bering Strait coast
and will spread south to St. Lawrence Island tonight. Strong
north winds will develop tonight. Winds and snow will persist
into Saturday

* additional details... north winds gusting as high as 45 mph will
cause areas of blowing and drifting snow. High winds may cause
freezing spray from the ocean to accumulate ice on structures
close to shore on St. Lawrence Island.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means periods
of snow and blowing snow will cause primarily travel
difficulties.

The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a high surf
advisory, which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to 6 am akdt
Sunday.

* Location... Savoonga and Diomede.

* Waves... will cause high surf through early Sunday.

* Winds... north 35 to 45 mph.

* Timing... winds and surf will increase tonight and will persist
through Saturday night. Winds and surf will die down early
Sunday morning.

* Impacts... surf will wash to the top of the beach and beach
erosion will occur.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that localized beach erosion is
expected. Precautions should be taken to protect property.
