Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 2:08 PM AKST Dec. 11, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM akst
Wednesday...

* what... snow and blowing snow with low visibility occuring.
Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches. Visibility will
be reduced to one half mile or less at times.

* Where... St Lawrence Island and Bering Strait coast including
Diomede.

* When... conditions will get worse late tonight and into
Wednesday as winds increase.

* Additional details... winds gusting as high as 50 mph will cause
areas of blowing and drifting snow. The worst conditions are
expected on Saint Lawrence Island and Diomede.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means periods
of snow and blowing snow will cause travel difficulties.




High Surf Advisory
Issued: 1:14 PM AKST Dec. 11, 2018 – National Weather Service

... High surf advisory now in effect until 6 am akst Thursday...

* location... north facing shores of the Bering Strait, Little
Diomede, and St Lawrence Island.

* Wave and surf... will wash to the top of the beach.

* Winds... north winds 25 to 35 mph occasionally gusting to 50
mph.

* Timing... high surf will continue through at least Thursday
morning. Strongest winds will be late Tuesday tonight and
Wednesday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that localized beach erosion is
expected. Precautions should be taken to protect property.
