Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 1:01 PM AKDT Oct. 14, 2018 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Juneau has issued a

* small stream flood advisory for rapid rises from...
heavy rainfall...
around Cross Sound, Icy Strait and northern Lynn Canal in the
eastern Gulf Coast... northern inner channel... and central inner channel areas...

* until noon akdt Monday.

* At 101 PM akdt, satellite estimates and automated rain gauges
indicate heavy rain which will cause minor flooding. Rivers and
streams will rise rapidly in the advisory area. 1.5 to 3 inches
with localized amounts up to 6 inches of rain have fallen in the
last 18 hours. Additional rainfall of 1.5 to 6 inches is expected
over the area through 24 hours. Rainfall rates will be from 0.10
to 0.30 inches per hour for the next 24 hours.

* Small ungauged streams will continue to rise rapidly through the next 24 hours
with potential for producing minor flooding of roads and residences.

Mudslides are possible in areas of steep terrain.
